Helping us to help Ollie

Thank you to everyone who came along to the special fundraising BBQ and free kite flying day at Googong on Sunday August to help raise $70,000 for one of our little local heroes.

Two-year old Oliver (Ollie) has cerebral palsy and without our help he won’t get to the USA to receive the amazing neurosurgery procedure Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy treatment, which has been shown to permanently reduce spasticity in children with the disease.

This little fighter is particularly close to us at Shaw as he is the son of one of own team members. Mark and his family have to make frequent trips to Sydney for treatment and appointments, where Ollie receives injections into his legs and hips to reduce his spasticity and assist him to mobilise with a walker.

For Ollie, the operation in the US in addition to intense post-operative surgery may mean he can walk independently without his walker, and run around and ride a bicycle with his older brother and sister.

Every little bit we can raise will help Ollie live his life without pain, multiple painful orthopedic procedures, and have the ability to live his life like other children.

You can ready more about Ollie’s story and donate directly to his plight at Gofundme and follow his journey on Facebook.
