Thoughtful consideration and good design enabled us to achieve a high 8 star energy rating on this home. Energy efficiency was achieved through the use of materials such as solar panels, adjustable louvres and adjustable heat reflectors. Some of the other features included, internal actuated solar reflector system, roof ventilation, rainwater tanks, lex-com home network and solar hot water. The correct solar orientation maximised the performance of these features and the inclusion of grey water systems completed the eco credentials of this house.
Not quite off the grid but certainly a very comfortable house in this climate and a great project to showcase some of the leading ways in which we can maximise the performance of our homes, reduce powers bills and our impact on the environment.
